ENZYMATIC HYDROLYSIS

ADVANTAGES OF OUR PROCESS

Original_quality.png

Recyclate in Original Quality

Through enzymatic depolymerization, we recover monomers in their original purity. These building blocks enable the production of new, food-grade plastics
—without reliance on fossil-based feedstocks.

Lean Pre-Treatment

By targeting amorphous plastic waste, we eliminate the need for complex and costly pretreatment. Only simple cleaning and size reduction are required before enzymatic processing begins.

Mulit-layer.png

Mulitlayer Capable

A key advantage is the ability to process complex multilayer materials. For example, successful processing of PE-PET composite layers has already been demonstrated at lab scale.

All Polyesters

Our process enables the depolymerization of all polyesters.  With enzyme customization, we can potentially process multi-layer products and mixed-material waste. We have already demonstrated feasibility with PET, PLA, PBAT, PBS & TPS.

Fast Depolimerization

Our high-performance enzyme PHL7 enable full depolymerization in a short timeframe. For instance, a standard PET tray can be completely disintegrated within 14 hours.

Low Energy Requirements

Our process runs at approximately 65 °C under ambient pressure, requiring only moderate heat input. This energy can be easily sourced from industrial waste heat or renewable energy.

We are currently scale up the process to a 100-liter capacity in 2025 and to 1 cubic meter in 2026. This will demonstrate its readiness for industrial-scale application and provide valuable knowledge for the further scaling and optimizing.
